Zach and I love Asian food. A lot. Especially Thai food. And most every {if not every} Thai restaurant we’ve ever been to, is sure to have rangoons in the appetizer section. Now, let’s be honest – they are usually WAY overpriced, but I find myself willing, every time, to spend the ridiculous 6 bucks on some cheap wonton wrappers and cream cheese. They’re so good! Which is why I’m in love with this fun recipe. The best part is? You don’t have to worry about any cream cheese oozing out while you fry them! Yum.
Cream Cheese Rangoon Dip with Wonton Dippers
Makes 1 cup of dip
Ingredients:
- 8 oz. cream cheese {I use 1/3 less fat}
- 2 Tbsp. green onions, chopped
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- Wonton wrappers, cut into thirds
- Canola oil for frying
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375ºF.
- Combine the cream cheese, green onions, and garlic powder until smooth and place in an oven safe dish.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until fully warmed.
- Meanwhile, fill a large saucepan about 2 inches deep with oil.
- Heat the oil to about 350ºF.
- Place a few wonton wrappers in the oil and let cook 10-15 seconds on each side.
- Place wontons on a plate with paper towels and let oil drain from them.
- Pair with dip and enjoy!
I could literally lick the bowl with this stuff in it. It’s become one of my favorite dips!

This is a great idea. I love rangoons too especially crab rangoong. I bet this would be good with crab meat or shrimp added to. I love this idea 🙂
