These S’mores Krispy Treats are made from graham cracker crumbs, instead of Rice Krispy cereal, are held together by marshmallows and butter, and topped with melted chocolate chips. They taste just like a s’more and require no baking or fire. They are such a fun summer treat!
I can’t get over the whole s’mores trend that is happening right now. Whoever invented those babies is a genius. It’s probably safe to claim them as the official taste of summer, right? Done. One bite of a s’more and I’m transplanted back to my childhood in the mountains of Sanpete County, Utah.
It’s my goal in life to have a yearly camping trip with Zach and our kids every summer. Complete with all the s’mores fixins that you can think of – regular mallows, flavored mallows, grahams, chocolate covered grahams, chocolate, Reese’s, Cookies and Cream chocolate, etc. We take s’mores pretty seriously in our house. If you couldn’t tell.
These S’mores Krispy Treats are a recent fav after creating our Oreo Krispy Treats. I though that if I can make krispy treats out of Oreo crumbs, I can definitely do it out of graham cracker crumbs, too. Spoiler alert: I was right.
My favorite part about these, is the ooey, gooey chocolate that is signature of a s’more. If you make it right, that is.
S'mores Krispy Treats
Ingredients
- 3 packages Honey Maid Graham Crackers
- 1/4 cup butter {I use salted}
- 5 cups mini marshmallows
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
Instructions
-
In a food processor, pulse the graham crackers until chunky crumbs are formed. Place in a large bowl.
-
Melt butter in a medium saucepan, over medium heat. Add marshmallows and stir continuously, melting until only a few lumps remain.
-
Pour the marshmallow mixture over the graham cracker crumbs and stir immediately until all crumbs are coated.
-
Quickly, press into a 9x9 inch pan and set aside.
-
Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high heat for 1 minute. Stir and heat in 15 second increments, then stir again. Repeat until chocolate chips are melted.
-
Place the melted chips in a plastic baggie and snip a small piece of the corner off with scissors.
-
Drizzle the chocolate over the krispy treats.
-
Cut into pieces and serve. Otherwise, store in an airtight container immediately for up to one week.
