Guys. Holy crap. I can’t even begin to tell you how delicious these things are. I’m an avid snickerdoodle lover, {as was mentioned when I shared this snickerdoodle cookie recipe} but these Snickerdoodle Bars just changed the whole game of snickerdoodle making. Don’t get me wrong, I love making cookies. I really do. But what I can’t stand about it is being tied to the oven every 10 minutes for an hour as you get all of your batches baked. So annoying. That’s why this recipe is perfect for me! You get that yummy, buttery, cinnamon-sugary taste, but you only have to bake it one time. Yep, once. That’s it. Mind = Blown.
We shared these with some friends and they were gone in no time. Everyone kept asking for the recipe and I told them they’d have to wait until it was up on the blog. No, not because I’m selfish, mostly because I was too lazy to write it down. It is what it is. Anyway, you need to make these ASAP because they will literally change your life.
Snickerdoodle Bars
Makes 15-18 bars
Recipe from Frugal Antics of a Harried Homemaker
Ingredients:
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 & 1/2 cups white sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cream together the shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, scraping down the sides between additions.
- Mix in sour cream.
- Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cream of tartar in a separate bowl.
- Add to shortening mixture by the half cup.
- In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon.
- Sprinkle half the cinnamon/sugar mixture in the bottom of your greased dish.
- Spread the batter on top.
- Top with the remaining sugar mixture.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes. {When you think it’s done, stick a toothpick in it and if it comes out clean, you’re good to go!}
These pair perfectly with a nice, tall glass of milk. Go ahead. Make them. Enjoy them. And head off to your happy place.

Aw, Snickerdoodles! I always loved the kind with the cherry in the middle. I’d love to do a version of that kind but in bar form. They look awfully tasty!

I made this recipe, only I added cinnamon chips to the batter. They were deadly good, and a huge hit!

I made these, only I added cinnamon chips to the batter (I always want more spice!). They were deadly good, and a huge hit, so thanks for the recipe!
