I was trying to come up with a good title for this cheeseball and I couldn’t think of anything other than ‘the best cheeseball ever’. Not because I like being cliche and generic and lame, but because it truly is the best. cheeseball. ever. Our neighbor, Nyra, would bring this to our family every year for Christmas and we looked forward to it more than almost any other Christmas treat out there. {I say almost only because my mom has a secret slush recipe that was my favorite thing for Christmas Eve dinner. If you’re lucky, I’ll share it with you. ;)} In fact I called my sister and told her that I got the recipe for this cheeseball and she laughed and asked if I remembered how much all of us siblings used to fight over who was eating too much or who didn’t get their share. It was a bit ridiculous. But that just goes to show how great it is!
The Best Cheeseball Ever
Servings 2 cheeseballs
Ingredients
- 16 oz cream cheese at room temperature
- 15.25 oz can crushed pineapple drained
- 2 tsp. Lawry's seasoned salt
- 3 green onions chopped
- 1.5 cups finely chopped pecans or walnuts
Instructions
-
Whip the cream cheese until light and fluffy.
-
Add the pineapple, seasoned salt, and green onions until well mixed.
-

YES this cheeseball is the best I’ve ever had….I have been making it for years….I’ve heard different names for it….pineapple cheeseball…Pecan cheeseball……to me it’s the only cheeseball…..tastes the best with pumpernickel bread…yum yum
highheelsandgrills says
It’s SO good, huh?? It’s ruined me for all other cheeseballs! Haha I’ll have to try it with the pumpernickel. Thanks for the recommendation! XO
Jenne says
This is the best Cheeseball ever but my version is slightly different. I sub 1/2 cup sweet onions for the green onions and I add 1/2 cup finely chopped green bell peppers. Try this version! It is amazing!
Marcy says
For those who do not like nuts or have allergies I have rolled this in shredded cheddar and it’s very good
Mikki says
This is very similar to my moms “favorite cheese ball”
In her recipe you add 1/4 C. chopped green pepper (or red, or both= Christmas!)
She also adds 1 C. of finely chopped pecans to the cream cheese mixture, then rolls in more chopped pecans.
Our recipe uses the small flat can of crushed pineapple, drained and regular finely chopped onion.
I agree, it is the best cheeseball ever!
Tori says
If you think this is the BEST EVER then try it with ground ham (just put a few slices in the processor) OMG!!

Just saw this on Pinterest and am a bit disappointed to realize my grandma didn’t actually make up this recipe. ???? It’s a family favorite and we still have it on Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter each year. And yes, I always eat more than I should. ????
Sandra Williams says
Do you drain the pineapple before adding?
Pamela says
This Cheeseball Recipe is absolutely wonderful. I just made it and it was hard not to eat the whole bowl of ingredients before I rolled it into the pecans after I tasted it. I did add 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar just to make it a “little” sweeter and a few of the chopped pecans for crunchiness. I promise you…. you can’t go wrong with making this recipe for family and friends!!!
Susan says
This is an OLD OLD Recipe. Certainly a keeper!
Michelle says
I added chopped cilantro and chopped red bell pepper to the toasted pecans to roll it in and it seemed to take the really yummy cheese all to a whole new level.

I have made a variation of the cheese ball for many years. I do add one tsp of horseradish to give a little kick.

This was the best cheese ball ever and I love them all but this one rocked my appetizer for thanksgiving

This was so tasty! I would probably half it next time, as I had a lot left over, but it was yummy!

About how many little 4” cheese balls do you think this would make? My husband is making individual summer sausages and I am making cheese balls and homemade crackers as Christmas gifts for our church friend.
GiniD says
I’ve got a cheese ball recipe similar to this. But what I’m really interested in is your “secret slush” recipe!!! Is it a food or a drink???
Thanks,
