This Brown Bag Crunchy Caramel Popcorn is buttery, delicious, and so easy to make. It is all done in just the microwave, using Pop Secret Popcorn, and is a great snack idea that can be whipped up in minutes.
I can’t even begin to tell you how yummy this Brown Bag Crunchy Caramel Popcorn is. In the last week, I have eaten two batches of it {*ahem* Addi helped. A little.} and I’m still not sick of it. You have to know – this is a little strange for me. I’m an ooey, gooey caramel popcorn kind of girl, through and through. You know those popcorn bins that come out around Christmas time that everybody buys? My family was no exception, but I could never get myself to like the caramel corn in it. After all, I was raised on my dad’s caramel popcorn, which is pretty much the best caramel popcorn you will ever eat, but this is a close second.
The recipe comes from some family friends in good ol’ Star Valley, Wyoming. I can only remember making it once, but it obviously stuck with me, since that was probably at least 13 years ago that we did it. It’s amazing what our minds remember, isn’t it? The most random things can be a memory that you can hold onto forever. Zach and I were having a conversation recently about how Addi is getting to the age where she will probably gain some of her very first memories. That’s exciting and yet, a little terrifying. I just want her memories of growing up to be good ones! This is a huge motivating factor in getting together as a family to do fun things, so she has those great memories to look back on. Zach and I want so badly to have a family that is close and that wants to be with each other. I think a big part of that happens when we spend quality time together.
One of our favorite activities to do together is watch movies! Zach bought Addi the movie Up for her birthday a few weeks ago and we have probably watched it at least ten times since. I have heard so many parents be annoyed by that one show that their kid just can’t stop watching, but Zach and I have found it funny that the more we watch Up, the more we fall in love with it! We find ourselves busting a gut during the funny parts, every single time, and it makes for some seriously hilarious inside jokes later on. We really hope that Addi will remember us laughing and enjoying being together and having a good time.
Now, what’s a movie without popcorn, right? We went shopping at Walmart to grab some Pop Secret Popcorn to make this Brown Bag Crunchy Caramel Popcorn even easier. It takes just a few minutes in the microwave to pop up a bag of Pop Secret Popcorn, then you add your caramel sauce and microwave it for a little bit longer. All that’s left is to let it cool and enjoy! Lucky for you, you can buy any 3 Pop-Secret items at Walmart between 7/31 – 8/31 and get a Free ticket to the Fantastic Four movie (up to $5) while supplies last. You know – if you need a movie to watch and Up isn’t your thing. If caramel popcorn isn’t your thing either, you can visit the Pop Secret website to check out their new popcorn flavors as well!

- 1/4 cup butter {I use salted}
- 2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
Instructions

Pop your popcorn according to package directions. Transfer it to a large brown paper bag, sifting out the kernels. Set aside.

In a medium microwave-safe bowl, mix the sugar, butter, and corn syrup. Microwave on high for one minute, stir, and then microwave for one more minute, stirring again.
-
Add the baking soda, mixing completely, and then quickly pour over the popcorn. Shake the bag vigorously, so as to coat the popcorn with caramel.
-
Fold the top of the bag over a few times and then microwave for one minute. Remove the bag {It's hot! Be careful.} and shake the bag and return to the microwave. Microwave for one more minute and then shake again. {It's really hot this time, so be really careful.}
