Zach here. *Gasp!* It’s NOT Man Monday you say? Yes, yes, I know…
So, Sarah’s at some big hoity-toity blog conference THAT I WASN’T INVITED TO. So, I can say and do whatever I want on this blog while she’s gone. Mwahaha!
In all seriousness, going to a blog conference with the equivalent of 95,634 tons of estrogen compacted into one convention center is the LAST thing I’d want to do. Sarah will navigate that quagmire quite nicely. See, that’s why we are a team! She takes care of the dirty work, while I stay at home and write an extra blog post or two.
Anywho, on to the recipe.
So, I have a stepmom. Now, I don’t know about you, but when I was little I always thought of step-mothers as something like this ↓↓↓
- 3-4 chicken breasts
- 1/3 cup water
- 1 {8 oz.} pkg. cream cheese
- 1/4 cup {1/2 stick} salted butter
- 1 package refrigerated crescent rolls
- 1 egg
- 1/2 sleeve club crackers, crushed
- 1 {10 oz.} can cream of chicken soup
- 1/2 can milk {use the can from the cream of chicken soup}
- 3 Tbsp. sour cream
- 1/3 cup cheddar cheese
- Place the chicken and water in a crockpot and let cook on low for 4-5 hours {Add an extra two hours if chicken is frozen.}
- When chicken is completely cooked, shred it.
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Cream together cream cheese and butter until smooth.
- Add chicken.
- Stretch each crescent roll out evenly and lay flat on a cookie sheet.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg.
- Pour the crackers in another small bowl.
- Place a large spoonful of cream cheese mixture on the crescent dough.
- Fold up and pinch crescent dough sides so as to seal it off. {This will be your ‘pillow’.}
- Dip the flat side of your pillow in the egg and then immediately in the crackers.
- Place on cookie sheet with cracker side up.
- Repeat steps 9-12 for all the other biscuits.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, mix soup and milk together and stir constantly until hot.
- Add sour cream and cheese and stir until well combined.
- Pour sauce over chicken pillows and enjoy.

It’s easy to be a “Stepmother” to Zach. I think he gets his grill skils, humor and charisma from his dad. I wish Zach and Sarah lived closer so we could sample all their food first hand.

These look absolutely scrumptious. And easy to make. My kids would feel spoiled.
Great post! It never occurred to me to let my husband take care of my blog on my days off—or away. Actually, that’s not entirely true. He does help me a lot with my blog, just no writing. Or pictures. He is my technical consultant. I wonder what he’d come up with if I asked him to actually post? Intriguing thought. I certainly couldn’t do without his technical input. These are awesome! Made them for dinner and they were requested to be added to the regular dinner rotation.

Looks delish and want to try however, I’m confused about the 1/2 can of milk. Is that actually 1/2 cup?
highheelsandgrills says
Deb – Sorry for the confusion! So, after you pour in the Cream of Chicken Soup, you’re going to fill up that can halfway with milk and use that. 🙂 I hope this makes sense!
Dana D says
These look great! One question… Where it says 1/2 can of milk, is that sweetened condensed milk? Or milk milk? If it is just milk what would you consider as 1/2 a can?
Thanks so much!! Would like to try & make these once kids are back to school. ????
highheelsandgrills says
Hey! So you’re going to use the can from the cream of chicken soup and fill that halfway with regular milk. Sorry, that was kind of confusing. I’ve updated the recipe to reflect clearer directions. 🙂
Dana D says
Thank you so much for the fast response! This is really great!
highheelsandgrills says
Shoot! I’m sorry about that! It’s 1/4 cup, 1/2 stick. 🙂 thanks for letting me know!

I’m making these for dinner tonight! They look so yummy. However, I’m confused about the 1/4 cup/1 stick butter. The only sticks of butter I’ve ever had are 1/2 cup. I just want to make sure I use the right amount. Is it 1/4 cup or a whole stick? Thank you!
Kerry says
I was curious if you thought these would work with some shred smoked chicken? I am always on the hunt for new interesting ways to use up smoked chicken. We are a little obsessed with it right now in our household. Thanks
