We love pizza in our house and eat it all. the. time. Margherita Pizza is one of our favorites, but we will take just about anything. We’ve been on the hunt for a favorite pizza dough recipe and this one is it. I’m one that doesn’t like a super thick crust, so if you’re that kind of person, then maybe this recipe isn’t for you. But if you like a thinner crust like me, then you’re going to love this recipe!
Easy Pizza Dough
Makes 2 pizzas
Ingredients:
- 1 & 1/2 cups hot water {I just get it as hot as it will come out of the tap}
- 1 & 1/2 tsp. dry active yeast
- 1 Tbsp. white sugar
- 1 Tbsp. light olive oil
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 3 & 1/2 cups bread flour {or all-purpose flour is fine}
Directions:
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in the water and let sit for five minutes until frothy.
- Add the sugar, olive oil, and salt and mix until dissolved.
- In a large bowl, combine the yeast mixture with the flour and mix well.
- Turn out onto a clean countertop and knead for 5 minutes.
- Place back in bowl and let sit until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Punch dough down and knead again until smooth and elastic. {Use a little bit more flour, if needed, to keep from sticking.}
- Split dough in half evenly and make into whatever your heart desires
Sometimes, we will roll out both parts of dough and make a pizza and these yummy garlic cheesesticks or we will twist one of the dough parts into breadsticks. Otherwise, we put one of the halves in a tupperware and stick it in the refrigerator. It tastes best if eaten within a day or two. Eat up, folks!

This recipe worked out really well for me! What temperature do you heat the oven to?

There was not enough yeast in the ingredients so it did not come out well at all. I’ll have to try another recipe. Sorry. Maybe you can check your recipe.

I’m sorry to say but I think you made a mistake in the amount of yeast in this recipe.

I have used this recipe about 8 or 9 times since I fiund it last month. I LOVE IT! It is my go to recipe to make all things bread! Yum! I’ve made lots of pizza – family loves it, as well as cheese scrolls (a huge hit with my kids), cinnamon scrolls and garlic bread. Tonight I tried making calzones and they turned out awesome! Thank you so much for sharing such an easy recipe. It’s the only one I’ll use from now on!
