This Grasshopper Pie has a yummy Oreo crust, a creamy, mint-flavored filling, and is topped with Oreo crumbs. It’s such a tasty dessert!
I’m a die hard Grasshopper Pie fan. I love anything Grasshopper-flavored actually. I don’t know how many times I’ve had to make an immediate run to Dairy Queen to get my mint and Oreo fix. Their shakes are to die for! The only thing I don’t understand, is how this combination of goodness, got the nickname of ‘grasshopper’. Where did that come from? Does anybody know?? Because I’d really like to.
The first time I remember having this stuff, was when I was ten years old and my parents were out of town and they got us a couple babysitters – some of my dad’s college students. We adored them. They made this for us and then took us outside to dance in the snow while we waited for it to set up. It’s kind of a random memory, but I can honestly attribute that event right there to my love of mint/Oreo. It tastes like heaven in my mouth!
Grasshopper Pie
This Grasshopper Pie has a yummy Oreo crust, a creamy, mint-flavored filling, and is topped with Oreo crumbs. It's such a tasty dessert!
Ingredients
- 1 14 oz package regular Oreos
- 1/4 cup salted butter, melted
- 2 cups whipped cream
- 7 oz marshmallow creme
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp. peppermint extract
- 10 drops green food coloring
Instructions
-
Crush 22 Oreos in a food processor, or in a Ziploc bag with a rolling pin.
-
In a medium bowl, combine the crushed Oreos and butter; mix well.
-
Press the Oreo mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch pie pan and place in the refrigerator to let set.
-
Meanwhile, gently combine the whipped cream, marshmallow creme, and milk in a large bowl until smooth.*
-
Add the peppermint extract and the food coloring and mix well.
-
Spread the filling on top of the pie crust and smooth over.
-
Crush 5 Oreos and sprinkle the crumbs evenly over the pie.
-
Serve and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
*I found that if you microwave the marshmallow creme for about 30 seconds before adding it to the whipped cream, it helps to avoid lumps.
